In this exclusive Good e-Reader Video Comparison we check out two of the latest generation competing technologies found in e-readers in the current market. We evaluate the Ectaco Jetbook Color which features e-Ink Triton and the Pocketbook 912, which has E-Ink Vizplex.

e-Ink Pearl display screens are found in most of the leading e-Readers in the current market climate. You can find these screens on devices like the Amazon Kindle Touch, Nook Simple Touch, Sony PRS-T1 and the Kobo Touch. Meanwhile e-Ink Triton is the new version of this technology and is only found currently on the Ectaco Jetbook Color. Triton is interesting because it is able to mimic read paper and provide you with a full color experience.

In this video the premise of it is to show you how the same newspaper, comic book, eBook and DND Monsters Manual looks, side by side. This should give you a strong indication on the pros and cons of each technology and see if either of these devices is right for you. In the end, 9.7 inch screens are perfect for a large segment of consumers that need a large screen for their work or downtime.

Welcome to another Good e-Reader Exclusive Video! Today we unbox the Android 3.2 version of the Acer Iconia A100 Tablet PC! We show you everything that comes in the box and give you an indication on how it looks and point out various hardware features.

The Key features I liked right away was it being a little bit more pocket friendly then the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. The dual cores really make things speed along quite well and apps seem to load up fairly quickly. I also dug the HDMI port and Google Android Market Access. Finally, the speakers are positioned well because they are not on the bottom of the device like so many others.

Welcome to another exclusive Good e-Reader Comparison Video! Today we check out the two latest entrants to the color e-paper market with e-Ink Triton and Mirasol. These two technologies give you a taste of color e-paper in very distinctive ways.

e-Ink Triton is e-Ink Holdings’ first venture into producing true color e-paper. e-Ink Pearl is their previous generation technology and is showcased in many popular e-readers currently on the market. The Kindle Touch, Sony PRS-T1, and Barnes and Noble Nook Simple Touch all use it. The Jetbook Color is literally the first e-reader in the world to have true color e-paper and the results are striking.

Mirasol has been developing their color e-paper solution for a series of tablets that give you very low battery draw and provide rich colors. Mirasol closely resembles Pixel Qi screens in the respect that it functions in the sun very well. Most tablets like the iPad, Nook Color, and Kindle Fire don’t perform well in the direct sunlight, and often you get glare that obfuscates the screen. Mirasol is not phased by direct light and gives you the ability to use it in any circumstances, including dark rooms.

This video gives you a full comparison on how magazines, newspapers, comic books, ebooks, and PDF files look. If you are interested in either of these technologies or how content ends up looking on both screen platforms, this video is for you!

Corning, the company behind the famous Gorilla Glass screen technology found in many phones and tablets, has been living and breathing the avant garde. The brilliant minds at the company have been releasing concept technology for many years, trying to get companies to bite. They released a new video today that expanded upon their original day of glass video that saw seminal success.

The video shows how their glass technology can be employed in the home, school, business, and medical fields. Words simply cannot do this video justice and you have to watch it to fully appreciate the company’s vision to durable and highly interactive display surfaces.

Tom Mercer of 3M Library Systems Cloud-Based Library was on hand at Digital Book World and gave GoodEReader a detailed look at the innovative device intended for library lending. While the device officially launched at the ALA conference last summer, it is still only available in beta markets but has already gotten some positive feedback.

Mercer explained the logic behind the no-frills e-reader, stating that the lack of features like no wi-fi capability actually adds to the usefulness of the device when considering its intended purpose. 3M developed a device that was initially thought to be based on an early txtr model e-reader, but it is its own proprietary machine intended to limit the capabilities of the e-reader in order to prevent theft and black marketing, as well as to make it entirely user friendly for the wide variety of computer knowledge and know-how of a broad audience of library patrons.

One key point Mercer made in the interview was that the device is designed to be wiped completely clean between users. This step will prevent the exposure of library patrons to reading materials from previous users. For an adult patron population that is merely a respectful convenience, but when allowing juvenile library patrons to check-out the device for home use it is important that no mature content from a previous user be accessed.

Kobo executive Michael Tamblyn was at Digital Book World speaking about the importance of ebook pricing to authors and publishers, as well as participating in a panel discussion on global adoption. He took a few moments to speak with GoodEReader about some issues facing the company as a whole.

The following video interview gives Tamblyn an opportunity to focus on some major issues, such as the recent expansion into the Netherlands and the deal with Rakuten. He touched on the possibility of Kobo reaching out to further Asian markets, as well as paid great attention to the viability of their self-publishing platform becoming a major distributor, especially in some untapped markets like Africa and South Asia.

The Amazon Kindle Fire has been one of the companies greatest success stories and you have the ability to watch videos, play games, read books and much more. If you live in the USA the going is good and you can tap into Amazon’s extensive APP Market to get extra programs. If you live outside of that country there is noway to currently get new programs for your device. Recently we started our own online App Store that allows users in ANY country to download and install android apps to your Kindle Fire.

In order you need to access your settings menu, this is found on the tap right corner. After you enter that menu you will be greeted by an extensive list of facets you can change on your Fire. The one you want to be concerned about is the option called “Device.” You then want to turn 3RD party APPS ON and then you can install apps from web-based stores. Next fire up your Kindles Silk Browser to http://goodereader.com/apps/ and you can click download on any game, reading app, or otherwise directly to your e-reader. You will normally see a notification message at the very top of the screen. You can swipe downwards on it and it will give you a download progress bar. When it has finished saving to your Fire you then want to click on it and then install. Once this is all done you can open the app and get going!

We like to make things for people with new e-readers as easy as possible and if you live in the USA you can get apps and e-reading programs not available in the official Amazon Market. If you live outside, our Good e-Reader Android App Store will be your most viable solution.

The Kobo Vox e-reader is the companies first Android tablet and with that operating systems comes a ton of flexibility. You can install your own alternative reading apps like Kindle, Nook, and Sony to read books via other companies. You can also install your own 3rd party applications like FBReader, Aldiko, and Moon+ Reader. With these programs you have the ability to load in your own books that you downloaded from the internet. The default Kobo Android Market via Getjar is sparsely populated and you will be hard-pressed to find quality apps through it.

We recently started our own web-based Google Android Market for e-Readers and this gives you a great alternative to the default one that comes on the Kobo. You now have the freedom to install many additional reading apps, games, kids apps, productivity and essential apps. Our video below documents the exact steps you need to take in order to prepare your e-reader to install 3rd party apps and then do it via our website.
