Asus Suspends Plans for EEE NOTE Distribution in North America

By

asus eee note

A few months ago we reviewed one of the new touchscreen devices from Asus dubbed the EEE NOTE. It was the perfect blend of an e-reader and WACOM Tablet that even allowed you take pictures in e-ink. According to a recent Facebook post it looks like the device will not see the light of day in North America and will remain a Taiwan exclusive. There was word that it will see a European launch this year, but the date has come and gone with no further information from the company.

It seems from the rumors we have been hearing that Asus is going to be making a new version of this device for the international market. For now if you want to get you hands on this sweet gadget you will have to check out EBAY. You can check out our Full Asus EEE NOTE EA800 Review for more information and videos.

This is sad news. I have been waiting for this device to hit the U.S. market.

I was waiting for one too — but finally bit the bullet and ebay’d one. Am going to unbox it at lunch today; not to brag. :]

However: if something awesomely better is launched 3mo from now, I’ll be a sad panda. (Not typically an early adopter for this very reason.)

I’m kind of sceptical, however, that (by my criteria) there’s much chance of something better coming down the pipe: I don’t care either way about a color screen, and I do NOT want a combo touchscreen/stylus.
