How to Load eBooks on the Kobo Vox

By

Welcome to another Good e-Reader Video Tutorial! Today we show you the entire process of copying ebooks to your new Kobo Vox e-Reader!

There are three major programs we demonstrate in this video tutorial that are the most popular ones people use. Step by step, we show you how to use Calibre, Adobe Digital Editions, and Windows Explorer. Along the way we share all of little things you want to keep in mind when copying over ebooks.

Good video but Adobe Digital Editions doesn’t recognize my  VOX and I want to transfer DRM protected books that I have downloaded from my public library. Help please.

Hey. What you need to do is install a 3rd party Android Application called Aldiko. You can import your DRM books via this program and bypass Adobe Digital Editions. Read the last entry on the main post here

ADE does not recognize my Vox at all, in fact, my lap top does not recognize my vox, when i plug in the usb. Also if the ade recognized my vox, it would solve my problem, because i have all my library books sitting on my ADE. It is so frustrating. The tutorial was great, But do i get ade to recognize my kobo vox, like how exactly that you do it? I would think it is as simple as plugging it in but it is not working.

I downloaded the Overdrive app which allows me to keep using my library to download ebooks.  The cool part is that it goes right to the Kobo rather than having to go to my laptop to ADE and then my Kobo (I have the original Kobo).  Yay!

I have a bunch of epubs in Calibre that I copied to my Vox (as per your methods above).  I can see that they are on my Vox (through Windows Explorer and Calibre) but I can’t actually access them on my Vox.   Help!

I just figured out my question in paragraph two … I accidentally came across the “import content” button.  Strange that I’m importing books within itself.

Markus – I, like many others it seems, cannot get my computer (running Vista, in my case) to recognise the Vox as  USB storage.  I see from posts around the web, that this has been a generic problem for Andoid devices, and the issue is finding and installing the right driver in your PC to handle your device.  Apparently the right driver is specific to the Android device in question.  If you can identify the “right” driver” for the Vox and provide us instructions on how to install it in our PC’s, I’m sure we’d all be very grateful.  Thanks for your great work!

aldiko doesn t work on KOBO,-Vox, aldiko claims upon downloading no mobile recognized, have now loaded Overdrive that loads but can t get libruary to work,  AHA at last Word-player loads on Vox, however when i loaded the books, pages don t fit on screen, :) ))   think I ll take it back and get an Ipad, this is far to difficult and time consuming… very dissapointing  Like I said Word-player.com does work, and if anyone can get the pages to fit let me know.  I guess I shouldn’t cheap out, just wanted the colour reader like IPAD, which I do have, this was for my hubby, thought we just needed one IPAD for the home, totally spoiled, with the IPAD.

Thanks for the video…..I think people may have trouble figuring out how to get their books to come up on their Kobo after they have done the transfer…..you left that part out.  I figured it out on my own last night after watching your video :D   I used the Calibre program and did everything as you said…..I then unplugged my Vox from the PC and went into my library on the Vox….in the top left corner it showed that it was syncing……I then touched the bottom middle botton (between the home and back botton) and touched “Import Content” from the menu that came up.  I then gaave the ok for the Kobo to start importing the content and there they were!!!!  Cover art and all.  I hope that this helps someone :)
