An astounding 2 million iPads have found takers so far ever since the Apple offering went on sale from the 3rd of April. The most interesting thing is the magical figure has been reached while its still not 60 days since the iPad first began appearing on store shelves. In fact, it’s the extremely short span of time that it is spending there is what the story is all about. And its yet to be launched full scale internationally with Apple only being able to introduce the iPad in select countries so far. So what this means is the majority of the iPads produced so far have been lapped by American buyers.
The iPad has only recently been introduced in Australia and Canada along with some European countries. Deliveries have only just started and though Apple has not come up with any figures to describe its international sales, that it has been miniscule is anybody’s guess. Also, iPads performance is significantly better than what the iPhone could do when it was launched, as it had taken 74 days to reach just the one million sales figure. So it’s like 35,000 iPads that is getting sold daily.
“We appreciate [customer] patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone,” is what Apple CEO, Steve Jobs had to say while releasing the sales figures. The craze for the iPad continues unabated or maybe, it has only increased. So it would be interesting to see how long it takes for the next million iPad to be sold now that Apple has begun international shipments of the device. The one millionth iPad was sold in 28 day.
