The Chile T7-3G tablet running Android 2.1
By
There is a new tablet from Chile that will be one more addition in the 7 inch category of tablets. And lest you think its from the South American country, there’s a surprise. Chile is the name of a Chinese company and they have launched a tablet that sports the looks of an e-reader. In fact, the company too is advertising it as an e-reader that can also be a tablet at the same time.
Specs revealed so far points towards a 7 inch LCD screen with 800 x 600 pixels resolution. Named T7-3G, the tablet is built around an ARM11 processor running at 720 MHz speed and has the Android 2.1 as its operating system. The T7-3G comes with 256 MB of onboard RAM along with an additional 2GB of flash storage, a greater chunk of which is used up by the OS itself. It also has an SDHC card slot which supports up to 32 GB of additional storage.
For communication the device has 802.11 b/g WiFi as well as 3G mobile broadband networks out of the box. The specification sheet of the Chile T7-3G states the tablet will also allow one to send text messages which could be assumed to indicate capability of making calls also as well as downloading applications for the Android Market. Providing power to the device will be a 4500 mAh battery. The tablet also include an integrated accelerometer that makes sure the screen rotates automatically each time the orientation of the device is changed. The tablet is also handy, weighing in at just about 420 gms.
Though not a very fast device, but the T7-3G should be able to impress one as an e-book reader. It also has the capability to run third party Android applications as well as surf the net. Another interesting feature of the the T7-3G is its ability to playback HD quality video, it being compliant with MVB, AVI, MKV, WMV formats.
There is however doubts of whether this device will ever get to see the world outside of China. There is no pricing or availability details revealed as yet of the tablet.
So, there is another tablet/e-reader from China, another to have the Android as the OS and one more in the 7 inch category. The next that we’d like to hear is what comes out of it, which for sure will find mention here if it goes on to make waves.
So keep watching, for all the latest tablet pc and e-reader news emerging from the exciting world of tablet/slates and e-reader.
