The Notion Ink Adam bundled Apps Video Review

By

goodereader video

Welcome to another Good e-Reader Video Review. In this video we put the Notion Ink Adam through its various paces via the installed applications that come with the unit. We demonstrate all of the applications and software that come with the device and show you how the “Leaves” are setup.

In this video we point out lots of concerns and questions that various users have pointed out while commenting on our blog or the Good e-Reader youtube channel. You asked the questions and now you get the answers! We give you hands on demonstrations on how importing PDF files into Quick Office looks. We also show off the camera/video camera feature and do some live recording and even play it back so you can see the difference. We also put every single application the Adam comes with, so you can check them all out. We also installed some other applications from various other Android Markets such as Slideme.org and its Max 4.0 app.

Thinking of using your Notion Ink Adam as an e-reader? We show you off the Kobo application and how page turning works, as well as the differences between portrait and landscape mode. By the end of the video we have every application basically open and the hardware never slowed down.

This tutorial is perfect for people wondering what each application looks like and thoughts on what works and what doesn’t. Obviously the Notion Ink Adam is a work in progress, and we consider ourselves early adapters. It is our intention with this video to merely show you the applications and point out some of the glitches and leaving yourselves to draw your own conclusions.

Update: A user let us know that an update for FLASH is available that allows you to play FLASH games, watch embedded YOUTUBE videos and everything else. You can download the most recent Adobe Flash build for the Adam HERE.

    Thanks for the review!
Adam is interesting for me for it’s touchscreen and ability to draw on it – from your experience, how good is the responsiveness in in Canvas app, do lines get jagged when you are drawing curves/ circles fast?

Has this had the update installed?

I’m curious why you didn’t install flash. Every other person posting a video hasn’t had any issues with it. You just need to make sure you get the GLES optimized player. You can find it here:

One of the most common comments about tablets is that they are not for business use. I have used the iPad and disagree (although there are shortcomings). My main question regarding the Adam is around MS Office apps. Can you create PowerPoint presentations, Word docs and Excel spreadhseets on Adam? I am more concerned with creation and editing capabilities than simply viewing them.

The camera is zoomed in too much.

without the update the review is useless.

Did Notion Ink provide the update? No? The Adam is bundled and shipped exactly as we showed you. Unless you patrol the Notion Ink forums or notioninkhacks and other forums there is no to even know about the flash update.

While I agree that you are doing a great job with much maturity while reviewing, It would have been more useful for people with updates ( ideally, NI should have contacted you but it seems they are just following up with customers in an order).
While you have a point that you are just showing out of the box experience ( excusing few setting complexities), what good it would do for future buyers since they are expecting devices with updated version.
Besides, let’s say if the OTA update indeed worked as per plan, you would have shown updated version anyway right?
Anyway, not much a problem. You are doing a great job focusing on essential stuff.

Thanks Kumar! We are just trying to get all of the info to people who already have them and thinking of returning them or thinking of getting in on the next pre-order. Unless these bugs are worked out, its going to be a hard sell.
