Hello, many people are asking what a ZIP files is. Basically a ZIP file is a series of files contained within an archieve. We would archive a file in order for it to take up less space. Downloading, say 50 ebooks in a zip file would shave off many Megabytes in your download time, and save us server space.

In order to unzip a file, you must download program called WINZIP. Installing this, is trusted and safe. When you install WINZIP simply double click on the file you want to extract. Or you may elect to right click on the zip file and click extract.

WinZip® is the most trusted way to work with compressed files. No other compression utility is as easy-to-use or offers the comprehensive and productivity-enhancing approach that has made WinZip the gold standard for file-compression tools.

With the new WinZip 12, you can quickly and securely zip and unzip files to conserve storage space, speed up e-mail transmission and reduce download times. The ZIP file format is a data compression and archive format. A ZIP file contains one or more files that have been compressed, to reduce file size, or stored as is. The ZIP file format permits a number of compression algorithms.

The format was originally created in 1989 by Phil Katz, and was first implemented in PKWARE's PKZIP utility,[1] as a replacement for the previous ARC compression format by Thom Henderson. The ZIP format is now supported by many software utilities other than PKZIP (see List of file archivers). Microsoft has included built-in ZIP support (under the name "compressed folders") in versions of its Windows operating system since 1998. Apple has included built-in ZIP support in Mac OS X 10.3 (via BOMArchiveHelper, now Archive Utility) and later, along with other compression formats.
