I am reading the Twilight Saga. I thought the movie sucked so I wanted to know if the book is better(Books usually are). So far it holds true. Only read three chapters and read more action in those chapters then I saw throughout the whole movie :D
I also have some construction manuals I am working with but I don't think those count and are not what you mean ;)

Yes, the books are actually pretty entertaining. I guess the movies were made by the wrong director. Remake anyone? :D
@ Charles, I read you where a horror fan? I'm more a Sci-fi lover myself, but I do possess copies of Stephen Kings Tommy Knockers, Silver Bullet and The Mist. Want them?
Charles
01-29-2010, 12:18 AM
Gladly, King is an excellent writer. I will send you my email. You like Sci-fi? Have you ever read anything from Kurt Vonnegut? If you can, try to get a copy of The Sirens of Titan. That should be straight up your alley.

Great, even more places to get ebooks. Looking forward to it. We should start a library I am sure that would attract lots of new members.

I would say yes, thats fine, if you bought or owned the book and want to "lend" it out, thats fine! Lots of major book stores like barnes and noble offers services to "lend" out books for a few weeks, then they are automatically deleted, we can offer a simalar serviced, but we encourage people to read it then delete it!! Maybe I will create a new section for people who want to trade e-books

Currently, I'm reading a book called Monster Island: A Zombie Novel by David Wellington.
Monster Island is a novel posted in blog format. It is set in Manhattan, one month after New York has been overrun by zombies. Its the first in a series of 3 novles. The second novel, Monster Nation, tells the story of how the epidemic began and how it spread so rapidly. The third novel is called Monster Planet and I believe it takes place 12 years later (after Monster Island).
I havent gotten Nation or Planet yet. But if anybody has them and wants to share..... :D

I am currently reading Gutshot Straight. It is in the mystery section here per my request (thank you goodereader!) - light, entertaining, fast read (so far). Basically about a small time criminal who is too good to be a criminal but not quite suited for anything else.

I am reading World War Z by max brooks, its about the early days of a zombie apocolypse, all the stores are told by different people and different perspectives that I like, like a nameless soldier guarding a bridge in the first day, to like a blind guys who wields a sword, to all these crazy stories, I really like it.
Hey Ophia, I saw that Monster Nation book in the horror section.

I'm just finishing up John Birmingham's Without Warning. It is an alternative history. This one is set just before the start of the 2nd Gulf War. All of a sudden most of the North American continent (Canada, US and Mexico) is gone. All that is left is a little bit of the NW around Seattle, Alaska, Hawaii and Gitmo in Cuba, NW Canada, and southern Mexico. Nobody can figure out what happened. A lot of the world celebrates at first but then things start falling apart without the US. The sequel After America is due out the middle of August.
Birmingham wrote an alternative history/sci fi trilogy set in WWII wherein a modern US carrier group due to a screw-up in a worm hole experiment ends up back in 1941 during the Battle of Midway. The carrier group's technology and weapons are all in tack. I want to read that trilogy and have made a request for it here.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would join in since we are always reading something!
I just finished:
Breathers: A Zombie's Lament. It was about a guy who reanimates as a zombie after he was killed in a car crash and now lives in his parents wine cellar. He attends Undead Anonymous meetings and meets with other Zombies. This is a Comedy, Love Story, Horror, Thriller book. I thought it had a Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Survivors, etc.) feel to it. I really enjoyed it.
Genghis: Bones of the Hills (Genghis Khan, Book 3)
This is the 3rd book in the Genghis Khan series. The first two in the series were Birth of an Empire and Lords of the Bow. The series follows the life of Genghis Khan and covers how he came to power and all the lands he conquered. Although the book isn't completely factual, it sure makes for better reading than a history book!

I am reading Face of Betrayal by Lis Wiehl. It was a free Nook offer so I grab it and I have to admit that it is actually really good. Its part of a series and it really reminds of James Patterson Women's Murder Club series. If anyone is really into murder mysteries than I would recommend getting the free copy off of bn.com!

I am currently rereading the Wheel of Time series. The new book is due in November and I always go back and reread the entire series to the new book. It amazing how many things I find that I missed. Since this is the 13th book, some of the books I have already read alot.
Also I am downloading the Dune series. Another series that I love. I currently have the first three original books. Dune, Messiah and Children. Kinda wondering how I should reread this series. Start from the beginning, with the original books, or start with the story's beginning, which would mean the prequels.

I loved this series! I think Saint was my favorite of the three of them. I have to read the Circle Trilogy (which I think is actually 4 books now but I am not positive). Have you read Obsessed by Dekker? It is not part of the Books line but it was a GREAT book! I enjoy his writing.

I'm reading the Harry Potter series I wanted to read all the books before the Deathly Hallows movie (part 1) came out.
Thanks to all of you who mentioned Sh*t my dad says. I'll read that just as soon as I finish the Harry Potter Series. For those of you who aren't in the US they are making a TV series from Sh*t my dad says. I won't watch it though. Situation comedies in the US tend to be dumbed down.
And I definitely now want to read the Ted Dekker books.
Thanks for this thread.

Personally, I think that there's no comparison between the book and the movie. The movie had to rely on skin and beauty, because the book is just soooo awesome.
