Well, I now own a A Sony PRS600.
First impressions are that it's awful !!
I think the Reader Library software is responsible.
The screen reflects much more that I expected.
I read with Bi-Focals. Would a dedicated pair of reading glasses improve things?
What is 'Sync' used for ? Is it essential ?
What on earth is 'Metadata' ?
Hope some of you can help !
Thanks in advance, Keith.

Meta Data is the semantics of your ebook, such as book title name, author name, publisher, author sort etc. Its mainly employed to better organize your library on your e-reader. Sync mainly adds new books on your device, once you copy tem over to your e-reader, you sync the books and its recognized on your device.
Sony has always made e-readers that are not "top of the line" so their are drawbacks to its cheap price, all of their models have been out for a year or more too, so its older tech.

Thanks for the explanations. I'll get working on it tonight!
I've just found some software called 'Calibre' that should replace the Sony e-reader library software. I'll give that a try to.

It's getting easier !
I've been reading a pdf book and been wondering why I can't enlarge the text ! So much to learn. Now I need to convert pdf to epub, but have to get a DRM remover first !
I'm a third of the way through a Stephen Hawking book, so I must be getting to like it !

The Sony Reader PRS-600 is now available for order at Amazon for $299. At today’s (Aug 25th) Press Conference Sony announced you can order it.
Although Sony is not touting it as such, the PRS-600 with its $299 price is a direct competitor to the Kindle 2. Sony Reader PRS-600 comes in with its Touch capability and Kindle 2 has wireless access and free Internet access.
