    Default Trouble with Nook

Well to get right to it I have noticed that about 4 out of my first 5 books I downloaded here, after putting them on my Nook they show up and can be read but they are listed as "unknown" for the title and the author's name is just a garble of letters. Anyone know what my be causing this? I have downloaded some books from manybooks.net and the name a author comes up fine. Thanks for any and all help that can be given.

Do a search on "Calibre"... it's a free software program for managing ebooks on your PC. You can fix the title, author, etc.

There is a video on how to use Calibre, as well.

    Welcome!

Ditto. Download calibre, load the books onto it and then click on the book and click "edit meta info". Its a lot like iTunes

Sweet thanks guys, I have calibre but I thought that program was used just to change the format from sap PDF to EPUB. Nice to know there is more you can do with calibre.

I also make sure that I have the correct cover for the book. Sometimes the books come with a generic cover. I like the real deal so I make sure to get it and add it to the file in Calibre.

calibre has been wonderful to use!!!! There are still several books I need to edit. Only thing I don't like is If the book is in a series you have to manipulate the title for your liking. Unless theres an easier way?!?!?

That is funny you should ask. I started up my Calibre this morning and saw there was an update. One of the things update says is: Add series info when available to generated cover. Also auto-resize the logo on the cover to ensure all text fits.

Cool beans. Almost like they were psychic!

Usually, I do use the series information, but usually I also put it in the title because the series info doesn't show up in my nook. Unfortunately ... the info doesn't always show in the title if it makes the title too long. It gets truncated and I can't read it anyway. There is no way to view info on the books in your library like there is in the B&N library. Maybe this is something we should bug the Nook folks about. :-)

When you download books from calibre to your nook do they always go to my documents or is there some way to send them to the B&N library. I I have some in both places so I was wondering if there was I way to consolidate them? I know your wondering ... yes I was dumb enough to pay $10 per ebook before I found this website.
