Most of the posts I have seen so far refer to an older firmware update process that used the SD card.
What is shown on their web site now uses a bootstrap program that you run on your PC which then downloads and installs the update automatically.
However, some of their instructions must not have been updated. They suggest that you backup your personal data (books, etc.) and make a copy of the old update file in case you have to back off the new one.
But there doesn't appear to be any old firmware file showing anywhere even though I do have the Windows folder view setting set up to show hidden files.
There also is a discrepancy between pages describing the updates; some say it is only for the Canadian model, yet another lists several US models as well.
The old saying is: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" but the changes they describe; the new interface, etc. sound good. But I don't want to gamble unless I know I can restore the device if something goes wrong. I recently had to send a GPS unit back because an update turned it into a brick.
My unit is a black 7" version from BJ's which is supposed to be a newer one. It's support specs show:
Hardware platform: RD101-2GB-W
Platform software: AN15-11-05-2010-7D
Application package: BN01-11-05-2010-7D-v2
Adobe RMSDK: 9.1.0
Does anyone have any more information about the update? Pandigital was fairly prompt in responding to my first question, but not so good with my followup one.
