How to open annotations?!

I just lend a sony prs-600 ereader from the library. Reading is very nice and I highlighted some sentences with the annotations feature.

However, I do not know how to open these files (.annot extension) on my mac computer! I´ve tried adobe digital editions, amaya text editor (does not recognise the file), sony reader software. The sony reader software can open the ebook itself, but does not seem to list or open the annotations somewhere.

What can I do to open these files? I´d like to be able to edit the text of the annotations on my mac.
