Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could explain the basics on how to use a Pandigital Novel eReader. The provided manual is really crappy and gives so little info on how to get MOBI files on the unit without going through Kindle . I've got alot of experience on PC's and can fix just about any problem, but I'm baffled by how difficult it is to find the correct file formats that will work with this unit. My primary concern is trying to get the unit to read an eBook that was added to the SD card , and not having to use the Kindle app. The only time it works is when an ebook is downloaded directly from Kindle. The unit is supposed to work only with MOBI files, but any time I load a MOBI file on the unit other than from Kindle I get a error message " The file format is MobiPocket". A friend of mine gave me several MOBI file eBooks and I will either get the mentioned error message, or get a jumble of Chinese characters and other symbols. What is the difference between MOBI files and PocketMobi files ? How can I put MOBI files on the unit and read the eBooks without using the Kindle app ? I downloaded an Android Reader app called AEPreader but as explained earlier the MOBI files either open a single page, display a jumble of characters, or error message "The file format is PocketMobi "

Another thing I don't understand is when I attempt to open a MOBI file the unit goes into a window that says

File Format
PalmDoc

File Encoding
windows 1251

What's PalmDoc ? I thought the file format is MOBI ?

How can this thing be so difficult to use ?

Another problem that took me forever to figure out is how to play movies on the unit. It only plays MPEG4 files, but if I downloaded a MPEG4 movie it would not play it. The only way I could get it to work is to download an AVI movie and convert it to MPEG4 with Ultra Video Converter. Why won't it just play a downloaded MPEG4 file ?

Hope someone can help me with this frustrating device.
