.rar files?

Hello,

I see some of the books are in .rar format, does anyone know if/how these work with the nook? Thanks for any help!

You need to download WINRAR, its like WINZIP, but different.

If you use Calibre it unzips and changes file for you.

No need to use any type of file conversion program. WinRAR is specifically designed for .RAR files. Download WinRAR and you will have 0 problems extracting.

I downloaded winrar and now every time I do a rar file, it tells me it's not a free program and I need to purchase it. Anyone know anything about this?

Yes, just click on close button. A year ago so ,I thought I had to buy it and did.Several months ago I lost all files on pc. Now, Winrar tells me to buy it and I try to put my reg. # in and can't find anyplace to. So like the forum said I hit close and it works fine. Hope this helps. And no you don't have to buy it to use. Good luck. It's easy.

There are two solutions to your problem it is to buy winrar or use free program like 7-zip

You can also go to Brothersoft.com and do a search there. I found Rar Zilla (think that is the right name haha). It was free and seems to work fine. I also downloaded WINRAR and noticed that it was on a 30 day or so free trial.

I have use 7-zip with no problems and it has worked fine every time.
I download it with 7-zip and then use winzip to finish it up.
