RBmedia announced via a press release the launch of a new audiobook series Outlander written by acclaimed author Diana Gabaldon. The new audiobooks have been narrated by none other than Kristin Atherton, the renowned actor known for his powerful performance both on stage and on screen. Kristin Atherton will be lending his voice to the lead character in the story, Jenny Murray, and has been the unanimous choice for the narration.
The Outlander series has been among the more compelling reads ever since it was first published back in the 90s. The storyline centers around a woman who has a perfectly normal life but is suddenly pushed back in time to a completely different era where she finds herself in a war setting. To complicate matters all the more, she also finds love in a young soldier but is eventually torn between two lives set in two completely different eras.
Interestingly, the new audiobooks are going to be available along with the original, which was recorded by Davina Porter and published by the RBmedia flagship brand, Recorded Books. It has been almost three decades since Davina Porter recorded the first audiobook. It was in 2021 that Porter announced her retirement after recording the ninth and final installment in the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.
‘Knowing Diana Gabaldon was hard at work on the tenth and final book, our challenge was to honor the legacy of Davina Porter and her legendary recordings while paving the way for a new voice. And so, we asked Diana and her fans, ‘Who would you cast?’ Their resounding answer was Kristin Atherton,’ said Troy Juliar, Chief Content Officer for RBmedia.
Atherton has won several awards for her voice acting. Among the new audiobooks where Atherton is doing the narration include Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, An Echo in the Bone, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, and the highly anticipated untitled tenth and final book in the series.
Those eager can pre-order Outlander narrated by Kristin Atherton. The audiobook is going to be published on April 29, 2025, with the remaining audiobooks in the series set to be available later in the year.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
