Eink

E Ink announced it has joined hands with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the aim of promoting innovative technological solutions for solving some of the most pressing global issues. As Liberty Times Net reported, this is going to be under the MIT Solve initiative where E Ink will be providing up to $100,000 a year over the next 3 years as prize money for anyone coming up with solutions to solve some of the most pressing problems faced by mankind as of now.

"E Ink's collaboration with MIT Solve demonstrates our commitment to using e-paper technology to solve the world’s most pressing challenges," said E Ink Chairman and CEO, Jason Lee. "We believe that by supporting innovation, we can have a profound impact on global issues and drive sustainable change."

Applications for the 'E Ink Solve Global Challenge' are currently being accepted. The winning team will be announced in August with the project slated to begin operations by September this year officially. Anyone who is willing to use e-paper material or technologies to solve global issues in the fields of architecture, education, and cross-cultural understanding will be considered eligible to take part in the competition.

"It's a meaningful moment for us to be working with E Ink again on this innovation challenge, as E Ink was originally incubated at the MIT Media Lab in 1997," said Hala Hanna, Executive Director of MIT Solve. "Support of this magnitude drives innovation to scale and has a transformative impact. We look forward to working with E Ink to advance critical technology solutions and create a better future together."

MIT Solve aims to provide impetus to global innovation and the creation of a sustainable development environment. It stated there are going to be four teams that would be declared winners of the competition. Further, E Ink is going to provide all the support they would need for the successful execution of their projects.
