Infinix Showcases e-Color Shift Phone With E Ink Rear at MWC 2025

Quote from Sovan Mandal on 3 March 2025, 9:54 PMInfinix is showing off its new AI-Powered E-Ink Phone at MWC 2025. Powered by the e-Color Shift 2.0 technology, the new E Ink Phone is similar to its predecessor in that it comes with a back panel that features an E Ink display. However, it now draws on the power of AI to set a color palette based on the current weather situation. Apart from the AI-powered system, there also are several pre-set patterns that too are available.
Another improvement with the latest generation E Ink phone is that it gets is juice from the phone's internal battery and is hence able to change colors any time. The first generation phone, on the other hand, was able to adopt a different pattern only when it was plugged in. The only drawback with the current setup is that it might effect the battery life of the phone howsoever small it might be. E Ink display requires power only when the display changes but requires zero power as long as the display remains static.
Infinix also showcased a solar-power phone which features a built-in solar panel on the back. The company is referring to it as the SolarEnergy-Reserving technology and is based on perovskite solar cells. Unlike solar panel made from silicon, the perovskite solar cells are thinner as well as more affordable.
The solar power phone also comes with the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) feature that ensures the phone does not overheat even when placed in direct sunlight. The solar panel however is capable of generating only 2W power which can be enough to only extend the battery life and cannot charge the battery as such.
The company is also showing off a solar powered phone case which comes with a built in battery. It can be detached from the phone can put in the sun to recharge the integrated batteries. This way, the case can serve as a secondary source of power can be handy during emergency situations or when engaging in adventure activities in far flung areas.
