The Txtr Beagle is the low-cost e-Reader that gained a ton of attention when it was first announced a few months ago. Many people were visibly excited about a low-cost alternative e-reader to the mainstream brands. Shop e-Readers has announced today that they are taking orders for the Txtr Beagle.
The Txtr Beagle features a five inch e-Ink Vizplex screen with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. Most e-readers these days do 16 levels of grayscale, while this model only does 8. Txtr has informed us that the final model will have e-ink Pearl, which should give it 16 levels of grey and sharper/crisper text. There are 4 GB of internal memory and five eBooks can be cached at any given time.
You can load your eBooks on the device via Bluetooth and paired to your smartphone or tablet. You have to have the Txtr Android app installed and you need an Android 4.0 device. If you want to load your own books on the Beagle, Txtr updated their services to allow users to upload their own books to your shelf, and basically send anything you want.
The most exciting factor, is the Beagle will last 1 full year on a single set of batteries, which are included. Shop e-Readers is the only company offering the Beagle off-contract in the world right now. You can buy them today for $69.99 each comes with a voucher for $10 in free eBooks via Txtr.
