News about Asus coming out with four new tablets this year, with two of them to be showcased at the forthcoming CES event, was confirmed by the company during a press event held in Taipei today.
They have also promised to come out with the 3G version of the Transformer Prime TF201 in the month of March this year. This issue had been a contentious one among Asus’ owners and fans, as Asus has ruled out a 3G enabled Transformer Prime anytime soon. However, with that now being settled, the Transformer Prime should be back on the shopping list of those who had earlier given it a pass. What’s more, Asus has also promised a stronger GPS receiver in future versions of the Transformer Prime, which should take care of the Wi-Fi version of the tablet reporting less than expected results.
A new variant of the Transformer Prime Tablet, codenamed TF201, is most likely going to be available in the market given the fact that something like it has been spied in a benchmarking website. The new tablet will be named Eee Pad TF202 and will be based on a dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 processor, while upping the resolution to a commendable 1920 X 1200 pixels. Also, the OS should be Android 4.0, and those are all that the details on the tablet as of now.
For comparison, the TF201 has the latest NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor on board, which is faster than the one on the TF202. However, the screen resolution of the TF201 is expected to be 1280 x 800 pixels, which makes the TF202 a higher resolution device.
Asus is also going to add a 7 inch model to their line of tablets and a 10.1 inch model with high resolution during CES.
