Innospace One, the South Korean company that has been developing e-book reader devices for more than a decade, has launched its new Jigu e-book reader featuring a 7-inch Kaledio e-paper display. The Jigu has a considerably thicker right spine than the rest. The thicker spine is also where the physical page turn buttons are located and allows for a truly immersive reading experience.
The Jigu offers 64 GB of internal storage which should be enough for holding thousands of e-books along with scores of audiobooks. If that isn’t enough, there is also the option to add another 512 GB of storage via microSD cards. The e-reader otherwise comes with 4 GB memory while a 2.3 GHz octa-core CPU makes up the core of the device. This ensures enough processing power to support multiple apps at the same time. The e-reader runs Android 11 which is quite disappointing as more recent launches come with Android 14.
The display, as we all know, offers a resolution of 300 PPI when reading black-and-white content and gets halved to 150 PPI for color content. The display supports 4096 colors and shows 16 levels of grayscale. The display is aided by a front light feature having warm and cool temperature controls for the most optimum reading experience irrespective of ambient lighting. The Jigu also boasts xRapid Refresh tech which allows for a 12fps speed boost for the display when you have the Extreme mode invoked.
At 218 grams, it is quite on the lighter side as well and can be easily carried in your bag or backpack for reading anytime and anywhere. Power comes from a 3050 mAh battery which would last a couple of weeks easily on a single charge. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi (2.4G, 5G) wireless connectivity while there also is a USB-C port for wired connectivity as well as for recharging the battery.
Coming to its price, the Jigu will set you back 419,000 won which comes to around 284 USD. Included in the box is a jelly case, a pouch, a strap, a protective film, and a remote control for hands-free operation, along with of course the Jigu e-reader itself.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
