TokyoPop announced it has introduced a new rewards program named TokyoPop Rewards, ComicsBeat reported. This will let fans earn rewards via the company website which can then be redeemed on future orders. Activities such as making purchases, referring your friends, or sharing content with others will help you accumulate points. You can check out the company website for details on TokyoPop Rewards.
You will have to sign up at the official TokyoPop site to get along with these activities. This can be done by clicking on the red gift icon present at the bottom left of the site. Apart from this, TokyoPop also stated they have tied up with Mattel to develop a new series of manga inspired by Barbie and the high-octane Hot Wheels.
All of these will no doubt add a new feather in TOKYOPOP’s cap which already boasts a chequered history. The company which was founded back in 1997 is known to have played an important role in introducing and popularizing Japanese manga in the West. It played a pivotal role in introducing the Sailor Moon manga series, thereby introducing the shojo manga to a wider audience.
The company is a licensor, publisher, and distributor of manga, manhwa, light novels and such. Since 2002, it has been publishing manga in its most authentic form, which includes the right-to-left reading format which applies to the traditional Japanese manga.
The company’s US operations however had come to a halt in 2011 and had also lost a few Kodansha licenses earlier in 2008 but came back strongly in 2012 when it relaunched its website and started offering the digital version of popular manga in partnership with Right Stuf on Demand. It recently launched its LoveLove Imprint which carries the core belief of ‘Love is Love’.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
