Amazon has just released the 5.18.2 software update for most modern Kindle e-readers. The main change is in the users’ library, where all their e-books are housed. Authors are sorted by default by an author’s first and last name, making it more intuitive to find an author quickly. Previously, by default, it sorted by the author’s last name and first name.
The Amazon Kindle Scribe 2024 model also received some love today with Customizable Notebook Summaries: You can now customize the length and tone of summaries in notebooks. You can also save your customization options for quick access.
Various Kindle models received new features in the previous software update issued in March (15.18.1). Double Tap for page-turn uses the device’s accelerometer, which allows users to tap on the side or back of the device to turn a page. The other flagship feature was Kindle Recaps. You can access short recaps for thousands of best-selling English language Kindle books in series you have purchased or borrowed. Refresh your memory on what happened in a previously read book before starting a new book in a series. Bugs inevitably occur with any new feature, and also, on the 5.18.2 update, Amazon Kindle has received performance improvements, bug fixes, and other general enhancements.
The 15.18.2 update was issued for the 12th and 11th generation Kindle e-readers. Visit the Kindle Software page to read the full patch notes.
