The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition hardly ever go on sale. Since the e-readers were released last October, they have only gone on sale three times. This is usually for special events such as Prime Day and Christmas. The Paperwhite was only discounted once in all of 2025 so far. It seems Amazon doesn’t run sales on Kindle Paperwhites like it used to.

On the Amazon website in Canada, the USA, and the UK, the Paperwhite is number one in the e-reader category. Given its popularity, Amazon sells thousands of these units, whether on sale or not. There are variants of the Paperwhite, and they do see savings from time to time, but they are not as popular. This includes the Paperwhite Kids Edition and the various bundle deals that come with a case, screen protector, and wall charger.

The only Kindle e-readers that see regular savings are the ones that do not sell well. This includes the Kindle Colorsoft, Amazon’s first color e-reader, and is very expensive. It has been on sale five times since it was released last October. The Kindle Scribe barely sells five hundred units a month on the Amazon website, but they do sell more when it is discounted, and it is generally on sale every month or two. Amazon has put the Scribe on sale six times since it was released.

I think the main reason why the Paperwhite sales are few and far between is because its popular, people buy them regardless and it has hit critical mass. The average reader might not be familiar with the all of the Kindle models, but are generally well aware of the Paperwhite. The Paperwhite also has high availability in most international markets.
