The ability of Chinese manufacturers to clone things is well known. They can do it so amazingly fast that many of the clones make it to the market before the original product does, which makes for an interesting game. What is more interesting to the consumer, however, is that some of these clones can now be purchased from the official Amazon site.
The featured case here is of the ePad, that is now on offer from Amazon for $124. The tablet has an unknown ARM 550 MHz CPU mated to a rather low 128 MB RAM. On board storage amounts to 2 GB for the tablet running Android 1.7. Screen real estate amounts to 7.2 inches with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. For connectivity, that ePad also includes WiFi.
From the specifications, it’s evident that the tablet won’t impress us with its performance. However, if you are looking to get a feel for Android on a slate PC without it costing your firstborn son, the ePad might be a tempting buy.
Meanwhile, there is another ePad in the market. It’s the DreamBook ePad from Pioneer Computers of Australia and is in the 10 inch category.
