Softlink is one of the largest digital ebook distribution systems for libraries in Australia. It is one of Overdrive’s main business partners and does fairly brisk business in schools, libraries, and corporate institutions. Softlink is inviting school and teacher librarians across Australia to participate in the 2013 Australian School Library Survey.
Surveys are very important to the overall growth of an ebook market, and Softlink has been running them for the last four years. It seeks to give the industry an inkling on exactly how many books are being loaned out, popular titles, and how much traffic their systems are getting.
The findings from past reports had been used to represent the industry in the Australian Parliament, and in discussions with federal and state government and education department decision-makers. Results have also been reported by the Australian School Library Association (ASLA), the Australian Library and Information Association ALIA, as well as other Australian state and international library associations.
It is fairly easy for libraries and schools to participate in this survey. You can click HERE and be taken to the official Survey Monkey website. Softlink has informed me that it is only open until May 31st and the report will be compiled soon thereafter. Good e-Reader will publish the report as soon as it is released, so stay tuned.
