We reported last month that Barnes and Noble was developing the Nook Lite and Nook 2, it looks like the Nook Lite will be for sale sometime in the next few days.
The Nook Lite will have the same functionality as the Barnes and Noble Nook but will have WI-FI only. It will still be the Android driven device and same Operating system and will be able to connect to the Barnes and Noble store to buy e-books directly. It will also be able to play the Android games and surf the internet, that are available on the original Nook.
The final price on this new E-Reader will be $149.00 to $199.99 and is already showing up on Google searches.
Update
Within 12 hours of writing this, Barnes and Noble put the Nook WI-FI online for $149.00. The aptly titled Nook WI-FI is the same size as the Nook. It has an Android Operating system exactly the same as the Nook. It only has the white version right now with rumors of black edition in a few months. It weighs less then the Nook, which is 12 oz, while the lite is only 11.6 oz. It connects via WI-FI for free on any AT&T hotspot and Barnes and Noble stores. It will also connect via WI-FI to any public hotspot, and has the ability to take passwords for private wireless networks. Finally, the new Lite, has a white back panel, while the Nook has a grey one.
