John Carmack must be happy to know that his major ID property Doom has been transported into the land of e-readers! Well, more or less. It is actually a port based on their software called PrBoom.
The new Pocketbook 360 in development uses the same new Pearl e-Ink display that the Amazon Kindle and Sony PRS-650 uses. The fluidity of game play demonstrated on the video below is due to the new Freescale processor bundled in. This allows for a non flickering e-ink experience without the poor refresh rate plaguing other e-readers.
The Pocketbook 360 is not the latest next generation e-reader that can do fluid animations. A few months ago we saw the new video by that showed full video playing with no flickering at all.
