Review of the Ledger Stax - Curved E INK Crypto Wallet

Ledger Stax is a small device roughly the size of a credit card with an E Ink touchscreen display on top. It is built for storing cryptocurrency offline and has a curved spine, making it more ergonomic. The makers also claim that the Ledger Stax is the first device to feature a curved E Ink display.

This device was first announced in 2022, launched on crowdfunding a year later, and started shipping in late 2023. It is now widely available on the company's website and Amazon.

The Ledger Stax has a 3.7-inch E Ink display with a 400 x 672 pixels resolution and 16 shades of gray. It was designed by Tony Fadell, who is credited with inventing the iPod, the Ledger Stax is unique in that it is the first device to come with an Organic Thin Film Transistor (OTFT) curved electronic paper touch display. More specifically, it is a 3mm-radius curved display that the Ledger Stax comes with.

Its 200 mAh battery keeps things moving and efficiently sustains operation on a single charge for several weeks. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 for connecting to a smartphone and a USB Type-C port for connecting to a laptop or recharging the device, although it supports Qi wireless charging.

Regarding its system requirements, the Ledger Stax can connect to Android and iOS phones, with iOS 13 and Android 9 being the minimum requirements. The device can also connect to 64-bit PCs running at least Windows 10, macOS 12, or Ubuntu LTS 20.04+, though the list excludes ARM-based PCs. However, it won’t connect to Chromebooks.
