There is a crowdfunding campaign for a new e-reader, called the Onyx Boox Ultra. The device is being billed as a 7.8 inch ebook reader with a frontlight, dual touch, flush screen and bezel, 2GB of RAM and 32G of internal storage, along with Android 6.0. All of the pictures that the campaign is using seem legit, they have the new Onyx Boox UI and even have the Boox logo. Good e-Reader has learned that this is a scam and not an official campaign run by Onyx. Indiegogo has been petitioned by Onyx to shut the campaign down.
One of the silver linings of this campaign is that hardly anyone has fallen for the scam. Only half of the overall goal of $1,500 USD has been successfully backed. This means only four people spent $185 for the the discounted version. These people should be automatically refunded if Indiegogo closes the campaign, which they should.
