HP is releasing their first new smartphone in almost two years. The Elite X3 will be available on August 29th for $699 and will feature Windows Mobile 10. One of the big selling features is that it will feature Microsoft’s Continuum which will allow you to use a dock or adapter to connect to a TV or monitor, then use your apps and see your content on a larger screen.
The XP Elite X3 features a 5.9 inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels with 493 PPI. The screen is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and is IP67 certified so it is waterproof.
Underneath the hood is a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 1.6 GHZ quad core processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. If you need additional storage functionality there is Micro SD support for up to 256 GB.
The cameras on this device are fairly solid. There is a 16 MP camera on the rear with a LED Flash and front facing 8 MP snapper.
I think this phone will be deadly for the enterprise market and consumers who need a really high-end device. You should not experience any lag or studders when employing Continuum and looking at your data on a bigger screen, not to mention Windows Hello and Cortana.
