Here is perhaps the best piece of news for all those who just couldn’t wait for the ExoPC Slate tablet to enter the market enmasse. For the tablet has been announced to be up for pre-order for one and all and not just the die hard 1200 fans as was stated earlier. However, you got to have $624 USD at your disposal right away to become one of the proud owners of the windows 7 running ExoPC having 32 GB of internal storage. The pre-order process is also a bit out of the way as it requires getting registered in the ExoPC forum in order to get the link to place your orders.
Now for some bad news. To begin with, there is some confusion with the shipping dates since as per what was made public earlier, the ExoPC Slate with 64 GB of internal memory was scheduled to start shipping from September 30 while those in Canada will be able to stake claim of the tablet from the 15th of October. Now if the latest tablet PC news is to be believed, the original September 30 deadline itself has been pushed back to October 15, which in any case is still more than a month away before you can lay your fingers on the 11.6-inch multitouch capacitive screen.
Also, when the ExoPC eventually makes it to the market, it would be sans the GPS feature. The GPS, it is reported, did not work out the way its makers had desired and is being done away with. However, there is something else to cheer you up – a SanDisk P4 mini-SSD that can operate at a speed of 160MB/s fast is now standard fitment on both the 32 GB and 64 GB models.
Meanwhile, the price for the 64 GB version has been fixed at $720 USD while battery life for both the tablet is pegged at four hours.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
