Make sure you have $99 to spare this coming Sunday if you do not wish to miss out on the HP TouchPad craze again. For the TouchPad is back with its now famous $99 price tag one more time (and probably the last) and would be making an appearance at HP’s ebay store on that day. One though will also have to act really fast since there surely will be a lot of TouchPad fans lurking around to pick up a limited stock of the HP tablets.
There are however some between the line issues that are to be borne in mind. Like the Touchpad devices on sale would be all refurbished ones and will carry a warranty of only 90 days. Also, an individual would be allowed a maximum of two Touchpad’s while the sales, once made, will be deemed final.
So if you think the above catches are OK, be at the HP eBay store on Sunday Dec 11 starting at 6 PM Central Time. Limited quantity of both the 16 GB ad 32 GB TouchPads would be available with payment to be effected via PayPal.
Hp has also said they will be favoring their employees on picking up the tablet devices first. As TechCrunnh points out: “In an effort to give HP employees first chance at a very limited supply of refurbished TouchPads, there will be a short delay between when the product is posted live for sale on eBay and when the general public is notified of the sale.”
HP had fixed the original price of the 9.7 inch tablet at $499 though it really caught on with the consumers only after its was made available at throw away prices of just $99. The operating system is webOS 3.0 that the tablets ship with and has turned into a tweakers device with experiments of installing the modified versions of Google Android being done on it by developers. The interesting part is that with the tweaked version of Android, the tablet has been found to be better responsive than when running on its native OS. There is also the issue of much more third party apps that one gets for the Android OS rather than just the ten thousand apps currently available for webOS.
The December 11 sales will also include an accessory pack comprising of a charging dock, a wireless keyboard and a case all of which would come for an additional $79.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
