The unthinkable has indeed happened. That TJ Maxx has been selling the iPad 2 for $399 is a reality after all. There has been talk of such a thing doing the rounds in the various tablet forums of late and all of that fructified into reality on Saturday, with the promotional offer of the 16 GB Wi-Fi version being available at $399. That’s a whole $100 less than the usual price of the base Apple tablet though the offer would naturally be available only till stocks last. Also, that stocks are not expected to be very many is all too natural as well.
Now, its not everyday that we come across a brand new iPad being given such a heavy discount while Apple too is known for maintaining a tight leash on the minimum price for retailer. The late Steve Jobs too had gone on record claiming TJ Maxx is not an official store for Apple products. TJ Maxx had then responded by doling out iPads a substantially reduced prices and is doing the same this year too.
What TJ Maxx is believed to be up to is buying the iPad 2s from retailers at the usual price and selling them at a reduced price even if it means incurring losses. Clearly, their strategy is to increase footfall at their stores and what better way of doing that than offering the bestselling tablet at a reduced price as a bait.
However, before anyone would like to make to TJ Maxx stores, the deal isn’t offered everywhere while it would be best to call before heading off.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
