Anne Rice first broke the mold on vampire fiction when her iconic book, Interview with a Vampire, unleashed an immortal named Letstat on eager fans back in 1976. The long-awaited 2014 release of a follow up to the story, The Prince Lestat, was so well-received that Rice is slated to publish another title in the series this fall.

The November 29th release of Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis combines the author’s favorite vampire with one of her other passions, the mythology and storytelling of the lost city of Atlantis. Rice made some announcements and clarification for her fans through her Facebook page earlier this week:

“Thanks, beloved People of the Page for making the announcement of my new novel, “Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis” so much fun yesterday. You never let me down. It’s a bit of an author’s dream to have a book coming out so soon after publisher acceptance — in this case, the book will be in stores by November 29th! And I’m deliriously happy. By the way, this IS the book that was tentatively named ‘Blood Paradise.’ I scrapped the title because I wanted Atlantis front and center in the new title. Make no mistake, this is a full fledged Lestat novel as well as being a full fledged Atlantis novel.”

Over her decades’ long publishing career, Rice has been busy with larger social issues. She’s an outspoken supporter of readers’ right to enjoy and appreciate erotica, and has long vocally championed authors–both traditionally published and self-published–who’ve had to endure bullying in the form of troll reviews. Her efforts to end author bullying on sites like Goodreads have led to heated online exchanges, but she’s a staunch supporter of the right to read and to publish.
