Bookeen has been tempting us recently with some videos demonstrating their breakthroughs in e-ink technology. The last one we saw showed some cute animated bunny rabbits. Their latest video is much more provocative. Today we have real time web browsing on a Pearl e-ink display.
Many e-reader companies that provide a truly e-ink experience such as the Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Pocketbook e-readers suffer from the frame-rate issues that plague current generation technology. This latest video from Bookeen is truly impressive because it utilizes the same Pearl e-ink display found in the Kindle 3 and Sony PRS-650. Although the company did mention it used some custom hardware, it is really nothing that crazy.
Here is hoping Bookeen uses this technology in its next generation Cybook e-reader.
