As expected, the iReader Ocean 4C color e-reader has officially been launched and the same is also available for pre-order via JingDong. Prices start at 1,699 yuan which comes to around 232 USD.
Coming to its specs, the Ocean 4C comes with a 7-inch K3+ display. The K3+ bit created some flutter in the tech circles with many speculating if it is some sort of a new e-paper display tech that sits higher than the Kaleido 3 display. While the company is yet to clarify the same, what is known is that the display will have a 300 PPI and 150 PPI B/W and color resolution respectively. There is going to be i-Clean 2.0 instant clear technology and new fast refresh technology to allow for a superior viewing experience.
The Ocean 4C also comes with a GPU Turbo system-level performance engine that allows for enhanced levels of performance. iReader stated e-books and comics load faster than ever, offering 47 percent and 52 percent better load times. Similarly, PDF files are found to load 38 percent faster. It otherwise comes with an octa-core processor that is coupled with 4 GB memory and 64 GB of native storage.
Power comes from a 2000 mAh battery that supports 49 hours of standby time and 20 days of reading time. The e-reader runs the company’s proprietary SmartOS. The Ocean 4C is also special in that it comes bundled with the company’s first stylus – the iReader Pencil. The stylus comes with a customized carbon fiber nib that allows for a very natural and paper-like writing feel. It features a built-in eraser, has a metallic build, and supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.
Wireless connectivity the e-reader offers includes Wi-Fi (2.4 & 5.0 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0. There is also a Type-C port for wired connection as well as recharging the battery. Other features include a speaker, built-in mic, and gravity sensor. It measures 154.2 mm in length and 136 mm in breadth. Depth varies from 7.8 mm to just 4 mm at the thinnest point. At 179 grams, it is quite lightweight too.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
