Those looking for an E Ink smartphone have a new option in the form of the Hisense A9. If that sounds familiar, that’s because the A9 was first launched back in 2022 so the current model can well be considered a new version added to the lineup. As ITHome reported, the phone now comes with 8 GB RAM along with 256 GB of storage, both being a healthy increment over the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage that the original model came with. It measures 7.8mm in thickness and weighs 183 grams.
The display comprises of a 6.1-inch E Ink Carta 1200 panel having 300 PPI resolution. The HyperWave display engine ensures quick and clean page refreshes each time. It comes with 27 LED lights to illuminate the display which offers 36 levels of warm and cool temperature controls for the most optimum viewing experience. This makes the phone great for reading e-books or other documents without straining your eyes. It is going to be just as readable when viewed in direct sunlight or in the dark.
Much of everything else about the phone is going to be the same, including the basic exterior design. Under the hood lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. Power comes from a 4000 mAh battery which should keep the phone going for several days or maybe even weeks comfortably. It however runs a slightly outdated Android 11 OS which is quite disappointing, to say the least.
Among the other highlights of the phone include an ultra-linear speaker, a 5 MP front camera, and a 13 MP rear cam, complete with an LED flash. It supports 4G cellular networks along with Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi 2.4G & 5G. With a HIFI chip ES9318 onboard, the phone supports AptX and LDAC high-bitrate wireless transmission. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for user authentication. The phone comes in Feather Ink and Dark Blue color options and is made from microfiber material.
Coming to its price, the Hisense A9 can be ordered for 3199 Yuan (436 USD) from Jing Dong. The phone however is meant for sale only within China.
With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. The motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot, and I'll likely make a film sometime in the future.
