Kobo operates its online shop, where it sells e-readers directly to users in most major markets. The current-generation e-readers are easy to find, and the older models are generally available in limited quantities. Users can save some money by buying certified refurbished models. The Kobo Clara Colour and the Kobo Sage are sold out and can not be purchased.
When viewing the Clara Colour product page, Kobo states: “Due to unprecedented demand, Kobo Clara Colour is out of stock for US-based customers until summer 2025.” However, the Kobo Sage does not have this message, which leads me to believe that the hybrid e-reader and e-notebook might be discontinued.
The Kobo Sage launched in 2021 and is the oldest of the current generation models that Rakuten Kobo continues to sell. The Kobo Sage is their premium e-reader, with a giant eight-inch screen. It was a dedicated ebook reader with new audiobook functionality; the Kobo Store has a new audiobook section, where customers can buy and listen to audiobooks right on the device. This is accomplished via Bluetooth technology, so wireless headphones or an external speaker can be used. The Sage is also compatible with the Kobo Stylus so that you can take notes inside ebooks, manga, and PDF files; there is also a dedicated note-taking app to freehand draw or solve complex math equations.
