The main Amazon website, where shoppers buy things such as Kindle e-readers, electronics, and household goods, is about to get flooded with AI video ads. Amazon unveiled a new system last year that allowed sellers in the US to quickly create generative AI ads on its platform and now has some new tricks and is generally available for sellers in the US to create “photorealistic video assets” in five minutes or less.
This system allows advertisers to upload a few pictures, and it will make a video of them using AI. Amazon says it is best for showcasing products like toys, tools, and worn accessories.. This advancement allows Video Generator to move beyond displaying a product in a lifestyle scene and show the product in action. This is the difference between seeing a watch displayed on a table and showing it on someone’s wrist as they check the time.
The Video Generator can now also make ads with multiple connected scenes that include humans, pets, text overlays, and background music. The editing timeline shown in Amazon’s announcement video suggests the ads max out at 21 seconds.
I think Amazon doesn’t need more AI functionality on its site. Product pages are littered with AI product images, summarizing reviews into a paragraph, and writing product listings. The entire product description page is a swamp made by AI.
