Amazon is turning into an AI driven dystopia with their never ending pursuit incorporating AI into everything they do. If you ever visited the Amazon store to browse or buy products, AI is basically in every product description. This started in early 2023 when they introduced Gen AI-powered capabilities to sellers who were creating product listings in Amazon’s store. All they had to do is post a picture a few short words on what the product is about an a listing to an existing product and everything would be automatically generated.
Today, Amazon continues their AI endeavours with Enhance My Listing, which effortlessly maintain and optimize their existing product listings. People are doing this to take advantage of the upcoming Prime Day this summer and also take advantage of seasonal trends, and just to make their product listing current.
Not only are product descriptions, product updates, but also product reviews are automated. You might have seen a summary of all of the reviews, before the reviews even start on desktop and mobile. Their are also AI tags, that feature key product insights and product attributes. When a real user leaves a review , Amazon uses artificial intelligence to analyze the review for known indicators that the review is fake. Even with legit reviews, they are often held for moderation and no human actually can publish the review.
The only thing left for Amazon to do, is just to write the reviews themselves or have AI tools do it for them. This way, a product description and title is written by AI, product updates are used by AI, summaries and attributes are written by AI, AI even will even let us know if a product has a high frequencies of returns. The only human element left is reviews and buying products, and I bet both of those will be the next things replaced with AI.
