When I was going up everyone was reading Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Goosebumps or the Baby-Sitters Club. Audible is capitalizing on nostalgia by converting all 133 novels of the Baby Sitters-Club into 133 different audiobooks. In their hayday, the books sold over 176 million copies.
The Baby Sitters-Club follows the lives and adventures of five best friends in the fictional town of Stoneybrook and who operate a local babysitting business. Over the years there were several spin-off series, including an ongoing—and bestselling—line of graphic novels from Scholastic/Graphix, as well as licensed merchandise, a 1990 TV series airing on HBO and Nickelodeon, and a 1995 feature film. Netflix recently announced that they were doing a 10 episode series.
The first five Audible audiobooks will be voiced by actress Elle Fanning, best known for her roles in “Super 8,” and “Teen Spirit.” The rest of the books will be narrated by an undisclosed number of other women.
Audible plans on launching all 133 audiobooks on August the 13th 2019 and they will retail for around $19 each, but if you are a monthly paid subscriber you use a credit for one. They are available to pre-order now on the Audible site.
