Spotify was the first of many companies that pushed out a new app update to take advantage of the latest Apple guidelines. The company is experiencing a surge in subscription numbers for audiobook purchases and top-up credits, in addition to music and podcasts.

In a statement, Spotify said, “In the two weeks since Spotify updated its iOS app by the 2025 Order, the rate of conversions from the Free- to Premium-tier service has remained relatively constant on Android, while conversion among iOS users has increased substantially. This strongly suggests that the increase is due to Apple finally complying with the Injunction thanks to the 2025 Order.”

The latest version of the Spotify app for iOS displays pricing details and promotional information, along with a link that allows users to subscribe via Safari. It’s also now easier to purchase audiobooks in the app.

How can Spotify see such growth on iOS? It all comes down to Apple being forced to change its App Store Guidelines after an injunction was handed down in its legal battle with Epic Games. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers barred Apple from charging commission or otherwise interfering with developers’ ability to direct customers to payment methods outside of the App Store.
