Bigme wants to compete against the Onyx Boox Palma 2 in a serious way. They will be releasing the Bigme Hibreak with no SIM card. It will only connect to the internet via WIFI. It will function as a dedicated e-reader with the same design and form factor as a phone, so it will be extremely pocket friendly. There is no official name for the product yet, or any word on availability. This is something they will release sometime in the next couple of weeks or a month.
The Hibreak e-reader will have a 5.84-inch e-paper display having 275 PPI resolution. The display is front-lit which means you can continue with your reading even in the dark though there is no temperature control available. This device also boasts of the company’s super refresh tech which ensures smoother and faster screen refreshes.
Under the hood lies Mediatek Helio P35 MT6765 2.3 GHz, Cortex-A53 processor along with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. There is a memory card slot available with support for up to 1 TB external storage. There is the 5 MP front and 13 MP rear cameras. Connectivity is brought about by dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Other features include a USB-C port, GPS, and a rotation sensor and is powered by a 3300 mAh battery.
This device will have Google Android 11 and full Google Play Store access. This will allow users to download millions of free and paid apps. Since this is being marketed as an e-reader, you might want to install your favorite reading apps.
