The latest Hunger Games book has sold 1.5 million copies in English and was primarily sold in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. 1.2 million copies were sold in the United States alone. This does not only account for hardcover sales but also audiobooks and e-books.

“With more than 1.2 million copies sold in the U.S. alone, Sunrise on the Reaping has sold twice as many copies its first week on sale domestically as The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes in 2020 and three times as many copies as Mockingjay in 2010,” Scholastic announced.

“After nearly a year of anticipation, sales for ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ have exceeded all expectations, as has the overwhelmingly positive critical and fan response to the book across the world,” Scholastic’s president, Ellie Berger, said in a statement released Thursday

According to Publisher’s Weekly, Sunrise is already the year’s No. 3 overall bestseller in the U.S. and is the second biggest debut of the year, after the deluxe edition of Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros.
