Amazon has just unveiled a Countdown to Black Friday deal center today. The company has stated that it will be offering “tens of thousands of deals” with discounts on popular items “as often as every five minutes.”
Amazon is trying to get a headstart on the road to the Christmas season and they have hired 120,000 seasonal workers to keep up with shipping and customer service. John Sullivan, a San Francisco State University business professor, said Amazon’s 120,000 seasonal hires is the most he’s seen at any firm.
The Prime membership program is going to be heavily marketed this November, not only for the free two day shipping they will also receive an additional 20% off on pre-order and new release video games as well as the ability to shop “thousands of Lightning Deals” with a 30-minute head start versus non-members.
On November 15th Amazon will be updating their Shopping app for iPhone with a new system called Package X-Ray. This will allow you to see what’s in a box that has been delivered without opening it and spoiling the surprise. Customers simply scan the barcode using their camera icon within the mobile app and the items that are inside the box will pop up on their screen.
