ComicBlitz is one of the few independent companies that offer an unlimited comic platform for iOS. They are a good alternative to Comixology, because their service is available to people in 133 different countries. They have a network of 30 publishers including IDW, Valiant Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, Zenescope and Lion Forge. In late November Cinedigm announced they were going to buy the company and a few days ago the deal was closed, but ComicBlitz service will continue to run uninterrupted.
Cinedigm said ComicBlitz’s content will be distributed globally as a licensed offering for mobile carriers and other media companies. The digital comics also will be integrated with Cinedigm’s own portfolio of over-the-top video services, including fandom lifestyle network CONtv, according to the company.
Cinedigm expects the acquisition will be accretive within the first quarter following closing, pending certain license deals currently in negotiation. The deal could be expected to generate more than $5 million in incremental annual digital revenues within 18-24 months after closing, if new platform and licensing agreements related to this acquisition are consummated.
