Adobe has been getting lots of flack in the media lately, mainly from Arch-Rival Steve Jobs and his Apple Empire. Also do not forget the advent of HTML 5 as an open web standard in the near future. Don’t write off Adobe just yet, they have a dandy little prototype to fuel the next generation of Digital Publishing.
The new Webkit Demo offers a great look into the design aspect of their new program. It will allow people to easily move images via gestures on a tablet. It’s all done in real time, with the text automatically accommodating wherever you drop the image.
Webkit is mainly library which is used to render HTML and execute Javascript with Adobe Air. Developers can create rich internet applications on the desktop or online. Webkit is open source and will have full support for programs such as Dreamweaver, HTML 5 and so on. Webkit is not just used for Desktop features or other enhancements, but programs such as Calibre and iBooks use this technology in order to display text and ebooks.
