Cosmopolitan and Harlequin are two publications that aim their content exclusively towards women, and now they have teamed up for a new ebook project to be launched next year called Cosmo Red Hot Reads. The two companies have not released any names of the first few books debuting next year, but a number of authors are confirmed— Lauren Dane, Jenna Bayley-Burke, and Alyssa Day.
The new agreement struck yesterday sees both companies releasing two new ebooks a month, beginning in May 2013. The novels, by some of Harlequin’s bestselling authors, will have strong narratives centering on modern young women living the free-spirited and outgoing lifestyle espoused by the international magazine.
“We are very excited to be Cosmopolitan’s partner in publishing and believe these stories will prove popular with women everywhere, especially new adult fiction readers,” said Donna Hayes, Publisher and CEO of Harlequin Enterprises. “Women look to Harlequin for the same qualities that Cosmopolitan provides them—entertainment, enjoyment, and inspiration—so it’s a natural fit.”
A natural fit indeed. Harlequin may see some much needed grounding when appealing to modern women via the new relationship with Cosmopolitan. Maybe we will see some witty new novels being released and a departure from the current trend of pulp erotica.
