Does your School Offer Digital Textbooks?

October 25, 2011 By Michael Kozlowski 2 Comments

We poised the question during the last few weeks on digital textbooks and the educational system. This is no dispute that more companies, such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble, are offering college and high school textbooks to rent or own.

It seems by a large margin people are not offered digital textbooks from their educational institution. 44% of voters said they would purchase the books if they were given a chance, but their schools do not offer it.  You can click on the image above to make it larger to see the statistics.

Definitely interesting information. I definitely think that etextbooks will catch on, but it might take a little time, similar to how the trend to rent textbooks has been catching on recently.

I heard that several major graduate schools require their kids to have an iPad for digital textbooks and resources. I think this trend will grow, because the technology just gets better and better. The more interactive the textbooks can be, the better they are for learning. I have not made the switch to digital yet, but I plan to purchase online textbooks this next semester.
