Playster is one of the few companies operating in the Unlimited space that offer a huge catalog of audiobooks and ebooks. There is a free 30 day trial and a myriad of options, depending on what content you want. If you love audiobooks Playster Basic costs $14.95 and has access to 40,000 audiobooks. The premium package costs $29.99 and has over 100,000 titles by bestselling authors such as James Patterson, Stephen King, Danielle Steel, Dan Brown, George R.R. Martin. The premium tier will also have all of the new titles available the same day as they are released. There are also different plans if you want access to ebooks, music or videos.
In this review video we take a look at the Playster App for iOS and checkout their audiobook and ebook catalog. The UI needs a little bit of work, as it is not consistent, one of the problems I have is that if you subscribe to their entire catalog and are in the audiobook section, there is no back button to go back to the main menu. You have to hit the settings icon on the top left to go back to a specific section.
When you subscribe to Playster you will likely do it for access to their audiobook and ebook catalog. You will get a sense on the general layout of each section and how you go about discovering new authors and new titles to listen to. The default audiobook player does a reasonable job, you can skip ahead or have it shut off if you tend to fall asleep while listening.
